Move over Las Vegas, poker cruises are starting to make new headways as the new destination for many live poker tournaments. Where else can you sail to island ports, cruise the seas, enjoy some of the finest dining, sip the finest cognacs and brandys ...all while playing poker and earning a living.
Poker cruises provide poker players a great social aspect to playing their favorite card game. In between the poker games, players can take a dip in the deck pool, enjoy a quick workout, watch some great entertainment shows, enjoy fine liqueurs at the cocktail lounges and then chill and take in the sights and sounds of the nightly disco bar, not to mention the beautiful patrons to chat it up with.
Poker cruises, provide a whole different aspect that is both unique and memorable for most poker players. After earning some deep stacks in your favorite cash game or tourney, it is a great feeling to be able to step outside and enjoy the warm breeze on the cruise deck overlooking the ocean and sailing onto a new island destination. The poker cruises provide a great environment to play some poker all while getting away from the big crowds that can sometimes clutter the major Vegas casinos and other brick and mortar poker rooms.
Let's not forget the games here happening on the cruise ship. Whether it be a cash game or tournament, poker cruises usually attract some very serious and dedicated poker players, as the cost alone of being on a cruise ship for a week can be slightly higher than staying in good old Las vegas or Atlantic City, so players here normally have some serious play time behind and are making an investment in themselves for the poker cruise and in making some earnings from their poker cruise expeditions.
So if you are thinking of taking a poker cruise, make sure you enjoy yourself but also come prepared to play some good all-round poker with a bunch of dedicated players. If you play poker as a living, you can probably even write off the expenses as your poker "entry and travel expense". So even a better reason to book yourself for a poker cruise to travel, chill and earn some cash.
