One of the most popular TV poker shows "NBC's Poker After Dark" has found a new home since the beginning of 2011. The hit TV poker show Poker After Dark is now being produced and filmed at the Aria Resort & Casino and features an ongoing lineup on the poker industry's top rated poker players including the likes of Tom Dwan, Eli Elezra, Phil Hellmuth, John Juanda, Phil Galfond, Phil Ivey, Huckleberry "Huck" Seed and many others.
The hit TV poker show catering to young poker players and a male viewer demographic of 21-35, will feature its always popular high stakes cash games and its $20,000 freezout poker tournament with 6 players in and a winner take all theme. The high stakes cash game component usually includes a minimum $100,000 buy-in and players try to win as much as they can, without busting out!
Poker After Dark was previously played and filmed at Las Vegas' Golden Nugget. The Golden Nugget being an older hotel located in the old downtown area of Las Vegas, made the location for the game a much less appealing property to be home to the Poker After Dark show, as most of the big action poker games are typically played in the vibrant strip area of Las Vegas. The choice to bring Poker After Dark to a more
centralized area and one with more "wow factor" was an easy choice to move the show to the Aria Resort & Casino. The Aria Resort & Casino is part of the larger group of hotels under the parent company MGM Resorts International, which also owns and manages casinos including the Bellagio, MGM, Mirage, Mandalay Bay and others.Besides losing the Poker After Dark show, the Golden Nugget also lost this year its other hit poker show "High Stakes Poker" televised on GSN (the Game Show Network), which now has a new home at MGM's Bellagio property. The High Stakes Poker show will no doubt have a great lineup of skilled poker pros and high net worth poker players, competing to win big stacks and big cash.
One of the inaugural shows for Poker After Dark filmed at the Aria Resort & Casino, featured big names including Howard Lederer, Phil Laak "the Unabomber", Eli Elezra, David "Viffer" Peat, Greg Mueller and newcomer Olivier Busquet. If past shows are any indication of the future, Poker After Dark will no doubt be another exciting escape for die hard poker players and poker fans to tune in weekly and watch some of their favorite & biggest names in poker, battle it out for big time bucks, side bets and the ultimate poker bragging rights!
